Nightlife on Sukhumvit Soi 11 and Asok
Sukhumvit Soi 11 is the easy start for a first night out. It sits close to BTS Nana and BTS Asok, so you can reach it without a taxi.
Above Eleven
Above Eleven is a rooftop bar on Sukhumvit Soi 11. The food is Peruvian and Japanese, and the pisco cocktails are the star. It is usually open daily from 5 PM to 2 AM, and the last drink order is usually about 1:45 AM. A resident DJ plays each night, and Wednesday is salsa night. The bar has a dress code: no flip flops, no sandals, and no sleeveless tops for men. Looking for more views? See our rooftop bars guide.
After a late night, the walk to bed can feel long. A therapist can come to your room and ease your legs and back. See outcall massage on Sukhumvit or outcall massage in Asok and Nana.
Nightlife in Thonglor
Thonglor is where many locals go out. The bars are stylish, the streets are leafy, and most of the action sits on Sukhumvit Soi 55. The nearest station is BTS Thong Lo, and then a short Grab ride takes you up the soi.
Rabbit Hole
Rabbit Hole is a cocktail bar at 125 Thonglor, Sukhumvit Soi 55. The menu is a story told in four acts, and each drink fits a mood. It is usually open daily from 7 PM to 2 AM, and the bar takes bookings on its site. Go early if you want a seat. The nearest station is BTS Thong Lo, and then it is a short Grab ride up the soi. Plan one or two drinks here, then move on to the next bar.
Thonglor nights end late, and the ride home is often slow. A therapist can meet you at your hotel or condo. See outcall massage in Thonglor and Ekkamai.
Nightlife in Silom and Sathorn
Silom and Sathorn are the business heart of Bangkok, and the evenings are calmer here. Expect quiet cocktail bars and tall towers with views.
Vesper
Vesper is a cocktail bar at 10/15 Convent Road in Silom. It is a calm place for a classic drink before or after dinner. The room is small, so go early or book ahead if you can. It is usually open daily from 6:30 PM to 2 AM, and the last order is usually about 1:30 AM. The nearest stations are BTS Sala Daeng and MRT Si Lom. The bar lists parking at Liberty Square.
Sky Bar at lebua
People come for the view over the city and the river. The dress code is smart casual, so skip beach wear. The nearest station is BTS Saphan Taksin. Check the hours and the booking rules for the day you plan to go, because the venue can change them. Plan to arrive near sunset, when the light over the river is at its best, and wear smart shoes.
Silom has many hotels, and a quiet room is the best end to the night. A therapist can come to you. See outcall massage in Silom and Sathorn.
Nightlife in RCA and Ratchada
RCA is Bangkok's big club street, and Ratchada has the famous train night market. This side of town is busy and loud, and it runs late.
Route 66
Route 66 is a large club on Royal City Avenue, known as RCA. It has a live music zone and a hip hop zone, with bands and DJs on a weekly schedule. The official site says it is open every day from 9 PM to 4 AM. There is no BTS or MRT right at the door, so plan a Grab for the trip home. Expect a busy room, and go with friends. Keep your phone and wallet close, and agree on a meeting point in case you split up.
Talad Rot Fai Ratchada
Talad Rot Fai Ratchada is a night market of food, drinks and small shops, in the evening. It is a good way to see local Bangkok. Go hungry, walk the lanes and try a few street food stalls. Wear comfortable shoes, because the lanes are long. It usually opens around 5 PM and often runs until about 1 AM, but stalls close at different times. The nearest station is MRT Thailand Cultural Centre.
The RCA side is loud, and your ears and feet will know it the next day. A therapist can come to your hotel. See outcall massage in Rama 9 and Ratchada.
Nightlife in Khao San and Old Town
Khao San is the old backpacker street, and it is busy until late. The old town around it is a short Grab ride from the rest of the city. No train runs close, so plan how you will get home.
Rere Khaosan
Rere Khaosan is a live music venue in the Khao San area. Khao San itself is busy, loud and full of street stalls, so it suits a night with no early start. We could not confirm the hours on our check date, so look at the venue page on the day before you head over. No BTS or MRT is close, so take a Grab or a metered taxi.
Saxophone Pub
Saxophone Pub is a long running live music bar at 3/8 Phayathai Road, at Victory Monument. It is across town from Khao San, so take a Grab. Bands usually start about 7:30 PM, and the last set is around 1:30 AM. The pub sits close to BTS Victory Monument, exit 4. Phone ahead to book, as the pub says to book by phone.
Riverside Night Markets
The river is slower and cooler after dark. Asiatique sits right on the water, and it is easy to reach from the city.
Asiatique The Riverfront
Asiatique is a big riverside market at 2194 Charoen Krung Road. It has food halls, shops and a Ferris wheel. The site says it is open every day from 11 AM to midnight. A shuttle boat runs from Sathorn Pier, next to BTS Saphan Taksin, about every 25 to 30 minutes from 4 PM to 11:30 PM. Check the boat times on the day. Go at dusk and stay for dinner.
A night by the river is a lot of walking. A therapist can come to your hotel afterwards. See outcall massage on the Riverside.
Late Night Massage After Your Night Out
Home after midnight and sore from the dance floor or a long walk? A therapist can come to your hotel. We run late, so read about 24 hour late night massage in Bangkok or see late night massage in Bangkok for how to book.
Plan Your Night Out in Bangkok
- Closing times. Many bars usually close about 2 AM. Clubs can run later, and some go on to 4 AM. Hours change on holidays and for events, so check before you go.
- Getting home. Use Grab or a metered taxi, not a street offer you did not ask for. Agree the app price before you get in, or ask the driver to use the meter. Have your hotel name saved on your phone.
- Last train. The BTS and MRT stop running around midnight, and the last train differs by line and station. Check the BTS site for the last train on the day. Plan a Grab for the late ride home.
- Dress code. Most bars are fine with smart casual. Rooftops can be stricter: covered shoes, no sleeveless tops for men, and no beach wear. Check the venue page first.
- Staying safe. Watch your drink and keep your phone and wallet in front pockets. Check prices on the menu before you order, and agree the bill if you are unsure. Read our guide to massage scams in Bangkok too. Drink water between drinks, because the heat adds up.
