Plain and aroma use the same strokes. Aroma adds the scent. Plain oil massage has no scent and costs less, from 1,000 THB for 60 minutes. Pick plain when smells bother you or you only want the strokes. Pick aroma for lavender before bed or eucalyptus in the day. If you want no oil at all, book a Thai massage instead. If you have never had either, start with aroma at 60 minutes and lavender. Most first bookings in Chiang Mai go that way.
Evenings and Slow Days in Chiang Mai
- Cool season nights: November to February, the nights are cool and dry. Book lavender and go to bed after.
- Rainy season: June to October, the air feels heavy. Eucalyptus smells fresh on a humid afternoon.
- Your first night: you are tired from the flight. Book for 8 pm, the night you land.
- A slow Sunday by the river: a resort day on the Ping River. Book jasmine for the late afternoon.
Aroma Oil Massage Chiang Mai by Area
We cover Nimman and Santitham condos and the Old City guesthouses inside the moat. Night Bazaar and Chang Klan hotels and the Riverside resorts along the Ping River are on the list too.
